We Say Stop
A campaign against gender violence
Project Overview
We Say Stop is a triptych poster and kinetic piece created for a campaign against gender-based violence. It highlights how violence hides in plain sight, embedded in music and everyday language. By featuring real lyrics and statistics, the project challenges audiences to see these words not as metaphors, but as reflections of a persistent, often overlooked issue.
The challenge
How can graphic design foster awareness without moralizing while targeting a youth audience?

Research
Language in lyrics as cultural reflection
The initial investigation examined common gender stereotypes and later focused on contemporary music. Song lyrics were analyzed not just as entertainment, but as a cultural mirror capable of reinforcing damaging narratives. This shift shaped the campaign’s direction: confronting the normalized language of control and objectification.
Concept
Design meets interface, sound meets message
Inspired by Spotify’s interface, the poster presents real song excerpts such as “Lasciami Leccare L’adrenalina” (Afterhours), “Pornoromanzo” (Brunori Sas), and “3 messaggi in segreteria” (Emis Killa). Familiarity was key: by embedding disturbing content in an accessible design, the project draws attention through dissonance.
Execution
Layered visuals, hidden messages
The posters combine bold text layouts with background images that are intentionally blurred and abstract. When viewed from a distance, they reveal faces of women and symbolic objects. This layered design approach mimics the way gender violence can be hidden in plain sight. Motion graphics were also developed to bring the interface metaphor to life.
Tools: designed in Illustrator and Photoshop; animated using After Effects.

Outcome
Design as a call to awareness
We Say Stop connects visual culture and social commentary. It transforms a passive interface into an active message, encouraging viewers to look closer, reflect deeper, and recognize gender violence in its less obvious, but equally dangerous, forms.
